Biofuel
Biofuel is an alternative type of fuel that is extracted as a result of bio-waste processing or processing of raw materials.
Since such type of fuel is easily renewable, biofuel is considered a source of renewable energy, as contrasted with fossil fuels, such as oil, coal and natural gas. Biofuel is widely used as an economically effective and ecologically safe alternative to oil and other fossil fuels, especially in the context of the rise in prices for oil and increasing concerns regarding the contribution of fossil fuels into the issue of global warming.
Some types of biofuels that have been utilized for a long time, such as wood, can be used directly as raw materials that are burnt with the aim of heat generation. Heat, in its turn, can be used for starting up generators at electrical power stations. A range of existing electrical stations burns grass, wood or other types of biomass.
Biofuel also provides some ecological benefits since the discharged products of combustion of wooden biomass are considered “carbon-neutral” ones.
